Welcome to a Company of Fools’ 36th season! We’re bringing you one of Shakespeare’s most beloved comedies this summer: A Midsummer Night’s Dream. This play is captivating, hilarious, relatable, and larger-than-life - the perfect show for a (mid)summer evening!

Prepare to be transported to the Greek islands for a toe-tapping evening of frivolity and foolishness. There will be love triangles, feuding fairies, and deeply committed performances by well-meaning craftspeople. And did I mention there’s a donkey? Don’t worry, we promise to bring you back safely to our current time and place once it’s all over, as if waking from a sweet dream…

Our Shakespeare in the Park shows offer Ottawans a chance to gather, connect, laugh, and share a communal experience in parks across the city - spaces you probably already have a meaningful relationship with. When we laugh together, we understand each other better. We open ourselves up to new experiences, and maybe even to considering other points of view.

Creating theatre is a hopeful act. Joy is an act of resistance. This production is an invitation to be entertained, to experience awe, and to celebrate all the wonder contained within our shared world. 

We are not asleep. And still, we dream.
