Tempest In a Teapot Cast and Crew BiosKevin Burton Film Guru
Kevin Burton was happy to discover that his fears he might not be Foolish enough for this project were unfounded. He has spent 15 years in the TV biz and worked on a variety of TV shows including the Gemini award winning Broken House Chronicles, HGTV as Editor, Be Real with JR Digs on TVTropolis (also nominated for a Gemini). He is currently editing a documentary series on the W Network. His background in internet video comes from his work on SSNCanada.ca, a streaming video network of Canadian University Sports - which he co-founded. He also like walks on the beach and chocolate milkshakes.
AL Connors* Caliban, Ferdinand
AL has been a professional Fool since the turn of the century and made his directorial debut this past summer with the Torchlight Shakespeare production The Most Excellent and Lamentable Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet. Non-Foolish credits include roles in Third Wall's production of Dr. Faustus and Todd Duckworth's production of Andorra. AL, a professional improviser, is the Canadian Improv Games' Ottawa Regional Director and National Tournament Coordinator and has received a Founders Award and a United Way Community Builders Award for his efforts. AL is a cat person.
Scott Florence* Director, Artistic Director/Production Manager
Scott Florence is the artistic director of a Company of Fools, or as he is more commonly known, the Big Fool. His work as an actor, clown, director, creator and teacher has taken him all across North America, working with Caravan Tall Ship Theatre, Eddie May Mysteries, Metaphysical Theatre, National Arts Centre, Odyssey Theatre, University of Regina and Vancouver Improv Festival. He curates Westfest Theatre and co-curates .ism(e):performance cabaret, a regular showcase of regional talent. He is an associate professor at Algonquin College and sits on its Theatre Arts Advisory Board. He is also a member of the Board of Directors for the Canadian Improv Games.
Louise Hayden Costume & Set Design
Lou graduated from University of Humberside, UK, in 1995 with a Fine Art degree in fabric sculpture for dance and performance before going on to teach. She is a Core Member of the Fools has produced costumes for the last eight Fools productions and other companies in Ottawa, such as Beowulf for the Ottawa Stilt Union (Magnetic North Theatre Festival) and The Epoch of Coming and Going & Moribund for Theatrophy. She also works in education workshops for the Fools and developed their elementary schools plan. Lou is a visual artist presently working on a collection of shoe based art with several exhibitions coming up this season. She recently completed her post as (Acting) Head of Costume & Props at the Great Canadian Theatre Company.
Margo MacDonald* Prospero, Stephano
Margo co-founded a Company of Fools in 1990 and has been working with them ever since. Most recently she performed the role of Prospero in Tempest in a Teapot and reprised her roles as Lady Anne and Prince Edward in the remount of Richard III--in Bouffon. She also directed the highly acclaimed Torchlight Shakespeare production of Twelfth Night in the summer of 2007. Some other favourite Fools performance credits are: 'Restes in Shakespeare's Danish Play; Lady Macbeth; Kate in Taming of the Shrew; Beatrice/Don John/Dogberry in Much Ado About Nothing; and Doll in Shakespeare's Interactive Circus. Apart from her work with the Fools, Margo frequently appears on stage with other theatre companies in Ottawa. Recent credits include: Fay in Iron with Seven Thirty Productions; Marlene in Top Girls, Wife in Greek, and La Marquise de Merteuil in Dangerous Liaisons -- all with Third Wall Theatre; A Leave of Absinthe and What Goes Around with Mutatis Mutandis; Chicken Head with Histrions; and The Rideau Project with Theatre la catapulte.
Emmanuelle Zeesman* Miranda, Trinculo
Graduate from the University of Windsor in the Musical Theatre Performance Program, Emmanuelle has become a regular in Foolish productions most recently as one of the leads in The Most Excellent and Lamentable Tragedy of Romeo & Juliet. Other theatrical highlights include: The Snow Show (NAC), The Two Gentlemen of Verona, Julie Andrews in Forbidden Broadway (Experimental Theatre), Ahmal and the Night Visitors (The Windsor and Detroit Symphony Orchestra), Lead Vocalist for the New Rochelle Festival in France and a Dancer for the Rolling Stones. Catch Emmanuelle next year in an original Fools creation in partnership with Winterlude: A Midwinter Night's Dream Tale.
